MG Z-cars and TFs to be insured as classics
MGs that are less than 15 years old can now be insured as classic cars. This month, Lancaster Insurance is widening its Classic MG schemes to include models such as the F/TF, ZR, ZS and the ZT.
Richard Morley, Lancaster operations director, said it was part of the firm’s desire to support modern classics.
Morley said, ‘We want to ensure that in 30 years’ time, more recent MG models are revered alongside all other classic MGs.'
However, the scheme does not currently cover the Rover versions of the same models - 25, 45 and 75. Although expect this to change shortly.
A Lancaster spokesman told us, 'We are reviewing our scheme coverage to include more modern classics, across all manufacturers.
'The updates to MG’s are among the first to be implemented, along with other more modern convertibles. We do already have good scheme coverage on Rovers, but are looking to expand even further here in the coming months.'
Lancaster scheme benefits can include agreed value, limited mileage discounts, salvage retention option, and foreign travel. Car club members can also get a discount of up to 25%.
