Cat C Accident in 2004, how can I find details
I am considering buying a 1972 Rover P5B Coupé and the Vehicle Check shows a Cat C Accident in August 2004 and a VIC test in April 2009 (Pass). Can I establish what the physical damage was on that claim. I do have the Insurer's name, the claim date and the last 4 digits of the claim number. My reason for asking is that the DVLA shows the car a being Grey whereas the car for sale is Silver Birch over Admiralty Blue. The Vehicle Check and DVLA records show no colour change.

It's not unusual for a restorer to repaint a car and fail to record the colour change. You already know the car was written off as a Cat C in 2004. If you have doubts, get the car professionally inspected to ascertain how well it has been repaired. That's more important than finding out what the damage was. The gap between 2004 and 2009 suggests that the car was off the road for that period sitting in someone's yard awaiting attention.
